Who’s behind it?
Shine Customer Knowledge; a business which brings together a team with over ninety years of combined data quality experience.
Deceased Suppression files have been around since the start of the 1990s’, during which time a small number of companies have been tracking, compiling, and disseminating mortality information – both for Marketing suppression and Compliance purposes.
The files, whilst sharing certain attributes, are constructed using different methodologies. There is no set blueprint, with data derived from a wide range of sources, spanning everything from funeral directors, consumer registrations, probate services and insurance claims through to due diligence processes undertaken by banks and insurance companies.
Confidence is key
Shine source the very best data to build Mortaliti. They then apply a rigorous process of cross-referencing, validation and corroboration. Each record, irrespective of provenance, has to pass through a series of checkpoints*, much like a traffic light system.
Source A suggests the individual is deceased
Source B makes the same determination as A
Source C corroborates the findings of A and B
Source C is the green light, the point at which the record can be added to Mortaliti
*commonly four or more – never fewer than three.
The Broader Case For Mortality Screening
Why does it matter?
Distress caused to spouse and other relatives of the deceased within the household.
Reputational damage to your business resulting in alienation and loss of customers.
Wastage of direct mail budget and severe commercial consequences of non-compliance including ICO sanctions.
